Making the End of Year Easier

There is so much to do to prepare for the end of the school year.  My big idea this year was to collect the books together.  I had renumbered all the books at the beginning of the school year.  When I collected them, I put all the 1's together, 2's together, and so on.  Now when I pass them out at the beginning of the school year, I am not going through and passing out all the reading books, then spelling books, etc.  Why has it taken me 7 years to come up with this idea?
