Multiplication Facts

I still remember learning my multiplication facts this way when I was in Third Grade, so I am continuing the tradition.  Here's how to do it:

Give students a one minute timed test (I give 30 questions).  Those with 100% get a scoop on their ice cream cones.  They get flash cards for the next level.  I go in order from 1's to 12's.  I find the management of this is easier than going out of order.  We take our tests each day.  The students go at their own pace.  When they complete all their facts, I bring them an ice cream cone (then they move on to division).

* You can modify this by giving students with special needs extra time.
